AMULET LINKS: AMULET is project
dedicated to addressing the problems of urban lead
poisoning and asthma in young children living in the Philadelphia and
Camden areas. The overall goal of AMULET is to raise public awareness
Asthma Information
about these health hazards to children and, more importantly, reduce the
exposure of children to lead and to environmental factors that trigger
asthma attacks through educating and training parents, educators and
Lead Information
members of the communities in both Camden and Philadelphia.
AMULET is a project designed to prevent lead poisoning and
increase awareness of asthma and its public health
consequences.
Managing asthma wisely will reduce its impact on children's
lives while monitoring environmental sources of lead
will reduce the chances of children developing lead
poisoning.
Urban children
are especially at risk of exposure to
environmental sources of lead and asthma inducing
factors.
Lead is the #1
environmental hazard to many children while
asthma affects 3 million children and 7 million adults a
year.
Educating ourselves about asthma and lead poisoning is the best
defense that we have to improve our overall health.
Training will be offered to parents, day care centers
and health
providers.
