Camden Campaign for Children's Literacy

The Center for Children and Childhood Studies received a150,000 grant from the John S. & James L. Knight Foundation for the development of the Camden Campaign for Children's Literacy. Volunteers are needed to read to children in the pediatric outpatient clinic waiting rooms at Cooper and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospitals. All those interested should contact the Center's Program Coordinator, Angela Connor-Morris: ibconnor@camden.rutgers.edu


CCCS Research Support Program Awards

With funds from the SROA the Center has awarded 9 small grants to assist center associates in the development of the following research projects:

Stuart Charme, Professor of Religion- The Emerging Jewish Identities of Childhood and Adolescence

Tetsuji Yamada, Associate Professor of Economics- Health Outcomes and Improvement of Health Stock by Accessibility of Children's Health Care Service

Spotlight on a NEW Staff Member

Angela Connor-Morris, BA, MSW

Angela is the Program Coordinator at the Center for Children and Childhood Studies. She will focus her attention on the Camden Campaign for Children's Literacy. In addition, she will participate in the planning and implementation of other Center projects in Camden and the South Jersey region. Angela joins us from the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging where she was a Care Management Coordinator. While at PCA she received an Award for Excellence in Care Management. She has been a member of the Apprise Program, COSA, ASA, and the Center for Ethnic and Minority Aging. Angela is currently ursuing her MPA at Rutgers University-Camden.

Funding News

Myra Bluebond-Langner has recently received a generous grant of $100,000 from the Fannie E. Rippel Foundation for her research project "Decision Making for Children with Cancer When Cure is Not Likely."
