The Rutgers-Camden Future Scholars Program

Rutgers Magazine coverThe Rutgers Future Scholars program is a new university-wide initiative launched by President McCormick. It introduces first-generation, low-income and academically talented middle school students from our four Rutgers home communities (New Brunswick, Piscataway, Newark, and Camden) to the promise and opportunities of a college education. Students who successfully complete the pre-college initiative and are admitted to Rutgers will receive a scholarship covering the cost of their tuition for four years funded through a range of grants and donations.

The Future Scholars Program at Rutgers-Camden

Future ScholarsAll incoming Rutgers-Camden Future Scholars spend a week of their summer vacation on campus to receive an introduction to college life.
The teens meet with current Rutgers students who graduated from Camden schools; participate in programs related to the fine arts on the Rutgers-Camden campus; and attend courses in such a range of fields, including science and law.
During this intensive week, the students are introduced to many opportunities that Rutgers-Camden has to offer, including participating in music performances, and reciting poetry.
