Washington University), teaches a range of sociology
and criminal justice courses, including Methods, Communications,
Political Sociology, Latin American Studies, Brazilian
Society, Sociology of Religion. He is the author of six

Dr.
Goertzel's research focuses of life history
across the life-span, including research on
youth and student movements, generational changes
in society, and comparative biography. He recently
published Cradles
of Eminence Second Edition:
Childhoods of More Than Seven Hundred Famous
Men and Women, an updated edition
of a classic in the field of gifted education
that was originally published by his parents
in 1962. He reported on Cradles of Eminence
at the Annual Meeting of the New Jersey Association
for Gifted children in March. He is currently
studying the childhoods of eminent entrepreneurs
and scientists, and reported on this research
in July as a keynote speaker at a conference
on
Serving
the Emotional Needs of the Gifted. Dr. Goertzel
is working on a comparative biographical study of leadership and
social change in Latin America as
a sequel to his biography of Brazilian sociologist
and former president Fernando
Henrique Cardoso. Dr. Goertzel is also
developing a propsal for a quantitative analysis
of life history data from the National Longitudinal
Survey of Youth, together with a group of
computer scientists in the Washington, D.C.
area. This proposal is designed as a test
of recent developments in intelligent data
mining.
