The Center
for Children and Childhood Studies' Service and
Outreach Projects aim
to directly impact on the lives of children and their futures.
Faculty, students and staff are involved in a range of programs
in the local community, such as early childhood literacy education,
art enrichment programs, science workshops for teachers, health
care enrollment, recreational programs for youth and more.

Justice Clinic. The Children's Justice Clinic is
a holistic lawyering program using multiple strategies and interdisciplinary
approaches to resolve problems for Camden youth facing juvenile delinquency

The
Rutgers Future Scholars Program introduces
first-generation, low-income and academically-talented middle
school students to the promise and opportunities of a college
education. Students who successfully completed the pre-college
program and are accepted at Rutgers will receive a scholarship

Professional
Development Pathways Initiative (PDPI) for
Early Childhood Educators is a community based
initiative in Camden in order to provide improved early childhood
education training for childcare staff at all levels.

Sports
Teaching Athletics, Responsibility and Resiliency [STARR] hopes
to
foster the development of responsibility and resiliency in
young teenagers through sports, community service, academic
enrichment and the opportunity to form meaningful relationships
with caring consistent adults. |

a CCCS program which prepares children to read before they
enter school; and promotes literacy as a key to intellectual
and economic success and development.

Allied
Health Sciences EXPO for
Middle School Students is
held on the Rutgers-Camden campus, usually in January or February.
It is designed to allow 8th grade students in Camden learn about
careers in the allied health sciences. Allied health professionals
attend the Expo to demonstrate medical techniques and research activities
with hands-on activities.

the SPARC program is to make precollege students interested and
